Hello …
I’ve been on the Mac for a few years now …
And I have used a Mac exclusively for two …
When I first contemplated getting a Mac …
People told me how unintuitive it would be …
Since we are all so used to Windows …
And that I won’t be able to get softwares for it …
Well … guess what … I’m still on the Mac …
And its the one of the best decisions I’ve made …
I admit it takes a few days to get accustomed to …
But after that … its a breeze to use … no problems …
Also the argument about not getting software …
Well I’ve been able to get any I wanted … google 
For me … anything I could ever do on Windows …
I can do it on the Mac … more easily most of the time …
In all these years I’ve been using the Mac …
I always wanted to be able to write Dhivehi/Thaana …
I knew there were ways/workarounds …
But I never got around to doing it … until today …
I followed this guide over at
Shahdy’s blog …
It explains in detail what one has to do …
And even links to the software needed …
Downloading and configuring took a few mins …
And now … I can write Dhivehi/Thaana on my Mac …
Nothing to it really … it was very simple …
So if you use a Mac … head over to Shahdy’s blog …
And set up you machine to write Dhivehi/Thaana …
It’ll save you a lot if time searching google

Hello …
People ask me why I changed to Wataniya …
They say only fishermen and Bangladeshis use Wataniya …
I say … I don’t care … Its better and cheaper for me …
With Wataniya … I can stay on budget with ease …
And I don’t have to fill up a form every time I talk to them …
Also my ISP is not Dhiraagu … I use a Focus connection …
You know those coffee table wars on which ISP is better …
I have a heard good and bad things about both ISPs …
I’ve a Focus connection at home and I’m ok with it …
It might not be best or fastest … but it gets the job done …
These days … all I hear about Dhiraagu is that …
How cool and how fast their new 10mbps connection is …
I’ve tested it and it seems very fast … thats good …
But I don’t understand this ad I found on Haveeru Online …
They say Home Premier costs MRF 690/- and you get 20GB …
They also say Home Premier is MRF 2100/- and you get 30GB …
This doesn’t make any sense to me … how about you ???
Why would anyone have 2 packages with the same name …
Also … who in their right mind would go for MRF 2100/- package …
When you can get 3 MRF 690/- packages for MRF 2100/- …
And get 60GB free … you get my drift … ???
Dhiraagu 10mbps connection may be all the rage …
But I think I’ll stay with my unlimited Focus connection for now …
Also … I do use a Dhiraagu unlimited connection at office …
Its not that fast … but its pretty decent for the price …
What do you guys think …???

Hello …
First let me just admit right off the bat that …
I’m not a fan of Hong Kong cinema …
I can’t handle guys with white beards fighting on top of trees …
Nor can I handle the “Master” teaching how to run on water …
But a friend passed me this movie with confidence …
Saying thats it one of the best movies to come out recently …
The movie is called
Body Guards and Assassins …
It stars an ensemble cast … lotsa good talent here …
I dunno many HK or Chinese actors …
But the some names were familiar to me from my days in KL …
The plot is not that original … but it works wonders …
Exiled Chinese revolutionary Sun Yat-sen …
Is returning to the British colony …
To meet with alliance leaders to plan an insurrection …
Against the Qing imperial government …
Qing send out officials to assassinate Sun Yat-sen …
But activist gather bodyguards to protect Yat-sen …
Character development was good for the twists to come later …
The choreography was really good … I mean seriously good …
The sets were impressive to say the least …
Did a very good job of recreating Hong Kong in the 1900s …
It a political thriller rather than a martial arts mash up …
But gets bloody and vicious when it needs to be …
Its a good dramatic film and invokes good emotions …
Overall … an awesome movie … highly recommended …
No wonder it won a few awards and got nominated for so many …
In the latest Asian Film Awards …

I’ve neglected this blog for long … it needs a fresh start …
What can I say … Its not like I’ve been busy or anything …
It just blogging has not been a priority for me …
I just didn’t feel like writing … it takes an effort …
I just didn’t feel the need to share … but there was twitter …
But now I’m back … I feel guilty for procrastinating …
Yet I feel inspired again … or thats what I think …

Hello …
I’ve this tendency to save my docs/PDFs online …
I do this coz I wanna have access where ever I may be …
You never know when you might need a copy of your ID card …
Or a copy of your passport for that matter … hehe …
I used to save my stuff in Yahoo! Briefcase since 2000 …
But some how … I missed their (multiple) announcements …
And around mid this year … I lost all my stuff with them …
That was a major bummer … but luckily I had backups …
I had copies of everything important … that was a life saver …
Since then … I’ve been looking around for a new service …
I settle on not one but two services … you know just in case …
One is
Upload Robots … a fairly new service on the market …
They offer 4GB of storage free … more if you go pro …
I like their site … really like the user interface …
I also mirrored everything to my apple
dot mac account …
A paid service … expensive … but easy to use with my OS …
They rebranded the service recently… its now known as dot me …
Guess with my stuff on two separate services …
The possibility of loosing it will be kept minimum … hehe …
What service(s) do you guys use to save/store your stuff ???

Started watching a new TV show … action packed of course …
Its called Dark Blue … here’s the official site …
It stars Dylan McDermott heading a team of undercover cops …
Show doesn’t loose time but throws us right in to their world …
About code among cops blurring the line between good and evil …
The plot is fast paced … but some times a tad unrealistic …
Almost every episode has got that over-the-top thing going on …
Anyways … all those guns, drugs, girls and all things bad …
Make a good cop show … a dark one that is easy to enjoy …
I’m on the first season … getting to know the team members …
Hope this show makes it … doesn’t get canceled mid-season …
Check out the show if you can … you might like it …

As you may have heard …
Snow Leopard is here …
Every other blog I read has something to say about it …
Most of the reviews say Snow leopard is generally good …
Everyone agrees that its a quick, easy and a cheap upgrade …
Naturally … I’m thinking whether I should upgrade …
So I ran a quick check to see if my MBP will fully support it …
And yes … my hardware will support Snow leopard … somewhat …
The problem is … I have a
MacBook Pro from late 2006 …
It has an ATI RadeonX1600 Graphics card … not Nvidia …
Meaning I can’t get openCL or quicktime hardware acceleration …
Also … ioreg -l -p IODeviceTree | grep firmware-abi …
Returns a “firmware-abi” = <”EFI32″> … not “EFI64″ …
Which means I cant boot into full 64bit mode … bummer !!!
Apart from these … my MBP will run Snow Leopard just fine …
So you can understand why I’m not all excited here …
Anyways … what do you guys think … should I upgrade ???

Its a good local site with lotsa ads and announcements …
I was browsing the site today when I found
this ad …
Apparently … a resort is looking for a dive instructor …
With a an instructor certificate … thats OK … right …???
So far so good … but what blew me away was that …
The ad says the dive instructor should speak 9 languages …
Yes … 9 languages … lets list them shall we …
English … French … Spanish … Japanese … Italian …
German … Russian … Chinese … and Korean …
I dunno about you … but I’ve never even heard of a diver …
Who can speak like 9 languages … I dunno that guy …
And I’m pretty sure you won’t either … cos its just not real …
And the fact they are looking for 8 such divers … awesome…!!!
They are just putting up ads … just for the sake of it …
How else can you explain this sorta stuff …??? Hehe …

Few days back … on recommendation from some of my friends …
I downloaded and watched a documentary called
‘Home’ …
And I tell you … it was awesome … it totally blew my mind …
Home by Yann Arthus-Bertrand is a beautifully shot panorama …
Planet Earth and the damage done to it by modern humanity …
The film has breathtaking aerial footage from 54 countries …
Showing the pure beauty of our planet with amazing facts …
Glenn Close narrates the journey with very good original music …
We are shown the history of Earth how everything came about …
And how everything is interconnected and balance maintained …
It shows us how we … as the dominant species on this planet …
Has been brutally drilling in to our natural resources …
Without a thought about sustainability or future consequences …
It shows how far the ripples of our industrial decisions go …
It also shows us … towards the end of the film …
That there are cities … regions and nations … that have …
Made some forward thinking investments in to the future …
And how … we too can be responsible towards our only home …
I highly recommend this film to anyone and everyone …
Who has ever had a thought about our planet … our earth …
Watch this documentary … and be blown away …

Hello …
I was in KL a few days back …
I had the chance to watch
Transformers 2 on big screen …
I was all excited waiting in line for an hour to get tickets …
But it seems my excitement was short lived …
The moment the movie began … after 20 mins of ads …
It went downhill from that point onwards …
Let me tell you …I really liked the first Transformers movie …
But this Revenge of the Fallen could not have sucked more …
The story with Sam brain sync’d with an alien map …
Too many robots and machines introduced in too little time …
Stuff blowing up for no apparent reason as if it just had to …
About 30 mins into the movie … I was confused …
I didn’t know which was which … or who was fighting who …
Who was good and who was evil … just metal against metal …
Megan Fox was there … she was hot … enough said …
Sam saves the day with the sand in his socks … awesome !!!
The whole movie was like one big explosion …
They say they could stay hidden in plain sight …
They should have stayed that way …
Gonna have to watch this movie a few times to make sense …
If you like
Michael Bay and his bad ass movies …
You’ll love this … if not … welcome to the club …
Food for thought … all the cars in the movie was from
GM …
And GM went bankrupt long before this movie came out …
Yes … I know I’m gonna get flamed by the fanboys …
