Hello …
I’ve always been amused by good photography …
The amazing shots we see can have that effect on many …
I’ve always wanted to go out and shoot a few shots myself …
But all i did was procrastinate… as I had no reason to shoot …
Few weeks ago… while surfing the internet …
I came across several daily photo blogs of cities …
I liked the idea of having a daily photo blog …
To display images of one’s city … a photo a day …
I thought may be I could have a photo blog for Malé …
As photos of Maldives were everywhere on the net …
But Male’ was at best… under represented … right … ???
But I was skeptical … I had my doubts if I can pull it off …
Especially when they say that its not as easy as it may sound …
Later that day I met up with
nazeeh … and talked it over …
He was as excited as I was … probably more …
He wanted a reason to go out and shoot as well … to practice …
And having daily photo blog was an interesting commitment …
So we began working on it together … and here it is …

The idea is to update it every day with a fresh new picture …
With an explanatory… descriptive and a helpful caption …
We know it’ll not be easy maintaining a photo blog like this …
Some even say Malé is not big enough for 365 pictures a year …
But we’ll try our best to do this… am sure its worth a shot …
So far we’ve both loved and hated the challenges of the project…
Constantly discovering ways to present our small city …

The concept is cool and I hope you guys are able to update it daily. Love the site template too.
Suggestion: It’s a bit difficult to navigae through the photos of previous days. Why not put an “Archive” or at least a “Recent Posts” widget somewhere?

I dont understand why everyone keeps complaining about porn and malicious software.. i think i just found something infinitely more hazardous- this idea of putting picture of this crappy over-crowded ugly town on the net! Imagine all of the other useful information that can be hosted there instead.. imagine all of those people who will be dissapointed when they seach maldives and see this shit..
Its equally disturbing that some of you think this is a brilaint idea.. ofcourse not surprisingly bulhaa thinks it great! wtf, this guy thinks evrything is cool!!
pissedoff, i’ve to disagree with u here. ‘this crappy over-crowded ugly town’ is our town no matter what. creative artists have a duty to capture & present the various facets of life surrounding them. when people search on the maldives all they see is a dreamy world of white sandy beaches, azure blue skies & crystal clear waters which is the most superficial representation of this country. dailyphotosofmale is an important alternative meant to delve into reality, reflecting the deeper, possibly darker side of life here, instead of the eye candy maldives the net is flooded with. so dont worry about dailyphotosofmale. just avoid the site. simple. by now it must be obvious i’m enthusiastic about this whole idea cos i’m a photographer myself & i love capturing life & reality. male’ or anywhere.
